Our mini muffins were inspired by traditional banana bread. I love a good loaf but sometimes, I want something smaller and portable to take with me on the go. Mini banana muffins are healthier and so much fun but as a dessert lover, I had to sweeten them up a bit with mini chocolate chips. Honestly, I don’t feel like I can go back to plain ol’ regular banana muffins after these. It’s definitely the chocolate chips for me!
Mini Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Muffins Recipe
If you love a quick, easy mini muffin recipe, give these banana choc chip muffins a try. A lot of banana bread style recipes call fror 3 bananas, but this is a banana muffins recipe with 2 bananas and chocolate chips. This can be helpful when you only have two bananas left. They have just the right amount of sweet flavor and make the best treats to take with you wherever you go!

Step 1: Preheat the oven and prep your muffin pan
Step 2: Combine mini muffin ingredients in a mixing bowl
In a large mixing bowl, combine your sugar, melted butter, eggs, bananas, and vanilla extract. Stir well until they are fully combined and add your dry ingredients – flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Stir gently until just mixed, but do not over mix.
Step 3: Fold in the mini chocolate chips
Add choc chips to the banana muffin batter and gently fold them in. Spoon into each muffin tin cup, filling each one at about 3/4 of the way full.
Step 4: Bake the chocolate chip banana bread muffins
Bake the mini muffins for 10-12 minutes or until they pass the toothpick test. You’ll insert a toothpick down the middle of one of the muffins and make sure it comes out clean! Allow muffins a few minutes to cool and enjoy!
- 3/4 cup butter, melted (1.5 sticks)
- 2/3 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 tsp. Vanilla extract
- 2 bananas, over-ripened
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease mini muffin pan with cooking spray or use muffin liners.
- In a large bowl, combine sugar, butter, eggs, bananas, and vanilla. Stir until completely combined.
- Add all dry ingredients - flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon, and stir until just combined. Be careful not to over mix.
- Gently fold semi-sweet chocolate chips into the batter. Spoon batter into muffin tin cups and fill each one able 3/4 of the way full.
- Bake mini muffins for 10-12 minutes or they pass the clean toothpick test. Cool for a few minutes before serving.
